Texas Children's Pavilion for Women | Ultrasound Fetal Imaging
We use fetal imaging techniques to identify potential birth defects early and recommend next steps
Our fetal specialists are experts in diagnosing and treating potential fetal health conditions. We believe that identifying birth defects or abnormalities early can lead to treatment when it’s needed. Our goal is to provide the best preventive care available.
Texas Children’s Fetal Center is one of only a few in the world that offer the full spectrum of fetal therapies.
Our specialists will use advanced diagnostic tests and procedures, including ultrasound, to assess the health of your unborn child.
Our prenatal genetic counselors can explain the purpose of ultrasound to you and your family. If specialists identify a health issue, our genetic counselors will be there to offer you and your family compassionate support.
Ultrasound is an effective, noninvasive diagnostic test that uses sound waves to show specialists pictures of your unborn child. Ultrasound also gives specialists a view of conditions in your uterus.
Our specialists use fetal imaging for diagnostic purposes that include measuring fetal growth, screening for birth defects and completing detailed scans for congenital issues. They also use 3-D and 4-D ultrasonography for more detailed views of your unborn child.
A fetal echocardiogram uses a special, targeted form of ultrasound to view the heart of a fetus in real time. Physicians use these images to evaluate an unborn child’s heart for congenital heart defects.
