Personal Statement

‘Angelina’ Leis is a pelvic health physical therapist at Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Women. Dr. Leis earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Texas Woman’s University. Additionally, she is a PhD student at Texas Women’s University with research interests in optimizing pregnancy and postpartum health for athletic females. Prior to her graduate education, she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Musical Theatre and Bachelor of Music degree in Opera from Oklahoma City University. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Pelvic Health Special Interest Group with the APTA, and Texas Physical Therapy Association.

Clinical Interests:

Her clinical interests include the management of pelvic floor dysfunction throughout the lifespan, pressure management from the glottis to pelvic floor, and the performing artist. Her practice philosophy integrates evidence based manual therapy, exercise, and pain science with a biopsychosocial approach to treat the whole patient.

Prior to her career as a physical therapist, Angelina performed, both nationally and internationally, in Musical Theater and Opera, as a member of the National Actors Equity Association. Additionally, she is certified yoga instructor, a former strength conditioning coach with EQUINOX with multiple functional training certifications,and has competed and placed in natural body building competitions. In her spare time, she enjoys rest and recovery.
