Personal Statement

Dr. Buchanan is an associate professor of surgery in the plastic surgery division of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He specializes in pediatric plastic surgery and craniofacial surgery.

Dr. Buchanan earned his medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford University Medical Center and his Craniofacial/Pediatric Plastics Surgery fellowship training at the Seattle Children's Hospital/Harbor View Medical Center.

He is board certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Edward Buchanan has written three children’s books: The Adventures of the Prickly Pear and the Happy Hoglet, Pit Bully: The Mental Ninja Awakens and The Tale of Fenny Fox: The Mental Ninja Emerges. The stories in Dr. Buchanan’s books encourages children of all ages to become mental ninjas and find the silver lining in all situations.
