Dr. Ihekweazu’s clinical interests include general pediatric gastroenterology, with a primary focus on Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.
Dr. Ihekweazu’s research focuses on the relationship between the gut microbiome and Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s disease. Her ultimate goal is to better understand the disease process and provide more effective treatment options for patients with IBD, by targeting the microbiome. She is also involved in the Intestinal Microbiome Transplantation (IMT) program.
