About

Hania Luna, Medical Social Worker at Texas Children’s Hospital Pavilion for Women, has a diverse professional background and a history of partnering with underserved communities. She honed her social work practice by supporting refugees and immigrants, crime victims, trafficked persons, individuals fleeing gender-based violence and veterans. As part of her advocacy, she also spent the last decade successfully interpreting federal and state public policies that often overlook these vulnerable populations.

Hania grew up in the Golden State and lived in Cairo and Baltimore before relocating to Houston. She speaks Spanish fluently and is a certified bilingual provider. After training at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she joined Texas Children’s to support teen and adult patients. Hania currently sees patients of Texas Children’s Fetal Center and Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic where she provides emotional support and perinatal resources to address their unique needs. She is also part of the specialized multidisciplinary Perinatal-Pediatric Advanced Care Team (P-PACT).

Away from work, Hania enjoys outdoor activities, exploring Houston’s food culture, participating in her civic duties, and traveling.

From Ms. Luna

My core social work values are client-centeredness and self-determination. My philosophy of care is based on the premise that if a girl or woman is adequately supported, the whole family benefits.
