Personal Statement

Dr. Ayres is the director of the non-invasive cardiac imaging at Texas Children's Hospital. She is also the director of fetal cardiology at the Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Women. She supervises the training and teaching of cardiology fellows in the echo lab and coordinates the fourth-year echo imaging fellowship training program. Dr. Ayres' areas of interests are fetal echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and telecardiology. She has developed a subsection of fetal cardiology to provide comprehensive cardiac care to the fetus with congenital cardiac defects to further enhance the active fetal echocardiography service. Dr. Ayres is a member of the Texas Children's Hospital Fetal Intervention team and participates in fetal surgery for lung masses, neck masses, and sacrococcygeal teratomas. She has organized a team to embark on fetal cardiac interventions at the Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Women.
