Personal Statement
Dr. Tamisa Koythong is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin prior to obtaining her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She then moved back to her native home of Houston, where she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. During her residency training, she was the recipient of the AAGL Recognition of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology award. As an Assistant Professor in the department, she is actively involved in resident and fellow education.
Dr. Koythong is privileged to be able to provide high quality, evidence-based gynecologic care to women of all ages. She is interested in being able to offer patients the most minimally invasive approach to the surgical treatment of multiple gynecologic diseases through traditional laparoscopy or robotic assisted laparoscopy. She believes that working with patients in a shared decision making model respecting patient autonomy and safety enables patients to become empowered in their own medical care.
