Personal Statement

Wanda Thornton Mott, MD, has practiced as a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist for more than 20 years in the Texas Medical Center. Dr. Mott is a Phi Beta Kappa member and a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Smith College, and received her medical degree and residency training at Baylor College of Medicine. She is a proud Houstonian and a product of Houston schools.

She has advanced certification and experience in procedures such as colposcopy, gynecology laser surgery, endometrial ablation, advanced endoscopy utilizing laparoscopy, and hysteroscopy for minimally invasive surgery. Moreover, Dr. Mott was the fifth gynecologist to be certified in MR-guided, focused ultrasound.

Of particular interest to her is the obstetrical care and management of high-risk pregnancy and obstetrical complications. These include incompetent cervix, pregnancy loses and premature labor; pregnancy complicated by medical illness, such as diabetes or hypertension. Dr. Mott and her staff are also able to provide nutrition counsel and weight management. She performs minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, Novasure/Theramachoice balloon, and MRgFUS, which is a noninvasive alternative to surgery. Her academic appointments in the Texas Medical Center include assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine and clinical instructor for the University of Texas Health Science Center.

In recognition of her personal and professional accomplishments, Dr. Mott has been the recipient of numerous awards, appointments and listings including the 2005 African American Business Achievement Pinnacle Award and the 2004 Texas Women's Empowerment Award.
